Código de Conducta

Parent & Player Code of Conduct

DYFN exists so every Dominican and Dominican-American child can play — developing their game, their character, and their bond with Dominican culture in a safe, positive, and proud environment. By registering, players and their families join a community and agree to this code at every DYFN event, training session, and online space.

As a DYFN player, I commit to:

  • Respect my teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, volunteers, and all families — on and off the field.
  • Compete hard and fair: no fighting, taunting, dangerous play, or abusive language of any kind.
  • Represent Dominican culture with pride and carry myself as an ambassador of my community.
  • Support my teammates: encourage, never humiliate. We rise together.
  • Listen to coaches and follow event rules, schedules, and safety instructions.
  • Take care of fields, equipment, and facilities as if they were my own.
  • Give my best effort in training and in school — la escuela comes first, always.
  • Never use tobacco, alcohol, or drugs at any DYFN activity.
  • Be a good digital teammate: no bullying, harassment, or disrespect on social media or group chats.

As a DYFN parent or guardian, I commit to:

  • Model respect: toward players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and other families — mine and the opposing team's.
  • Encourage from the sideline; never coach over the coaches, criticize referees, or pressure my child or others.
  • Celebrate effort and development over winning. Every child develops at their own pace.
  • Support the community pillar: participate, volunteer when I can, and welcome new families.
  • Follow all safeguarding rules, including sign-in/sign-out procedures and the two-adult rule.
  • Communicate concerns respectfully through the proper channel (the Child Safeguarding Officer or event lead), never by confronting a coach, referee, or child.
  • Keep my child's registration information accurate and up to date.
  • Never engage in physical or verbal abuse, discrimination, or harassment of any kind.

⚖️ Enforcement

Violations are addressed progressively: (1) verbal reminder, (2) written warning, (3) suspension from an event, (4) removal from DYFN programming. Serious violations — violence, abuse, discrimination, or any child-safety violation — result in immediate removal and, where applicable, reports to the appropriate authorities. The Child Safeguarding Officer and event leads have the authority to act on the spot to protect participants.
