Clubs, Leagues & DYFN

DYFN is a free recreational community program — not a club, not a league, and not a scouting agency. We complement the sanctioned soccer ecosystem and never compete with it.

We are not a club

DYFN does not field teams in leagues sanctioned by US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, or any similar body, does not host sanctioned events, does not hold player passes or registrations, and does not claim roster rights over any player. We hold no tryouts and make no cuts. A player who plays with DYFN remains a full player of their own club, with nothing about that relationship changed.

Our promise to your club

1. We schedule programming only outside your club's competitive season.

2. We never hold your player's registration or pass.

3. We release a player immediately on club request, no questions asked.

4. We notify a club coach when one of their players joins DYFN.

5. We never contact a player about leaving their club, and we never recruit against a club.

6. Our play is not sanctioned — we tell every family to clear participation with their club first.

We are not a scouting agency or an agent

DYFN employs no scouts and runs no talent identification of any kind. We keep no public directory of players. We do not sell player evaluations, we do not broker placements to academies or colleges, and we do not represent players in any negotiation. We have never charged a fee or accepted a commission connected to a player's opportunity, and we will not. Any relationship between a player, their family, a club, a college, or a federation belongs to them alone.

About our recreational play

DYFN plays in open windows only — the Labor Day kickoff, the Thanksgiving break, the winter futsal block from December through March, and the summer window. Inside those windows we field age-band teams with balanced rosters redrawn each time, an everyone-plays rule that guarantees every rostered player at least half of every match, friendly scrimmages, and our own community tournaments and festivals. We hold no weekend match days during your competitive season. None of it is sanctioned: there are no travel teams, no standings for the youngest age bands, and no league affiliation. Because our play is unsanctioned, no federation insurance extends to it, so DYFN carries its own general liability, participant accident, and abuse & molestation coverage. Some clubs and state associations restrict participation in outside play — families should confirm with their club and review our participation terms first.

Families who want a competitive pathway

DYFN is recreational by design: everyone plays, nobody is evaluated for advancement, and nobody is cut. When a family wants competitive soccer, we point them outward — to the sanctioned clubs and leagues already serving our communities. Referring a player to you is a success for us, not a loss.

For club directors and coaches

If you run a club with Dominican-heritage players, we would rather work with you than around you. Come to a session, send a coach, tell us when your season runs so we can schedule around it, or ask us to keep a specific player out of a given window. Write to hola@dfytn.org and we will answer.
